Five minutes that could transform your leadership and business forever. THOUGHTAs leaders, our ENERGY doesn’t just affect us; it impacts everyone around us—our teams, our decision-making, and even the overall atmosphere. I found myself running low on ENERGY, and it didn’t take long to notice the ripple effect on my work and the people around me. Therefore, I have done several things in the last weeks to build my ENERGY back up and manage it better: - Sleep more - early bed. - Eat better - more veggies and pulses. - Drink more water. - Less screen time. - Move more - min. 45 min a day. - Be in nature as often as I can. But what really made a difference was revisiting the work of Anese Cavanaugh, who teaches that ENERGY is at the heart of great leadership. When we bring positive, energising energy, people around us thrive. It’s not about hyperactivity—real leadership energy is inspiring, it lifts people up, and it has a contagious effect on our environments. You can feel it present when you encounter a human with great energy. By the way, when I talk about energy, I do not mean getting hyper/frantic, which is not productive. What I talk about is energy that: - It’s energising. - It feels good. - It’s fun. - It’s inspiring. - It’s exhilarating. - It’s life-giving. It puts nearly most people who come in contact with it in a better mood. What ENERGY we bring is a choice—good energy elevates, while bad energy deflates. What are you doing to manage your energy levels for a positive impact? PS: Check out an interview I did with Anese Cavanaugh, some years ago on this subject - link in comments. BTW: Please let me know if my energy is off when we meet! LATEST EPISODELearn:🔹 Why gut instinct isn’t enough QUOTELove"What is love?" - This blog by Maverick Mats Lederhausen truly made me reflect. We wanted to show there was another way to build and lead businesses. So Hospitality Mavericks was born. We wanted to gather together the world’s Mavericks who do things differently from the norm. They are leaders from all walks of life who have shown and proven that there is a better way forward without cashing out on their values; ripping off their people, community and planet. That was over ten years ago. Since then we've worked with and interviewed more than 200 leaders, thinkers and experts on the best way to build a business that makes a positive impact on all stakeholders. We are the home to impactful leaders that KNOW and DO things in a better way. A network for those seeking a different path. So don’t just be like the others! Dare to Be Different ✊
BY MICHAEL TINGSAGER Five minutes that could transform your leadership and business forever. THOUGHT The Prepared Don't Panic Panic is a symptom of unprepared leadership. When a crisis hits, unprepared teams freeze. Prepared ones adapt — because they’ve already rehearsed the hard stuff. Legendary Coach Bill Belichick said on being ready: “Preparation is never wasted, regardless of outcome.” This is true in kitchens, boardrooms, and football fields. The Maverick Leaders I meet simulate chaos...
BY MICHAEL TINGSAGER Five minutes that could transform your leadership and business forever. THOUGHT Rethinking Profit: A New Era for Hospitality Inspired by a meaningful lunch with Lars Kure Juul — always a spark for Maverick thinking. What if the profits we’ve been chasing were never real? Just numbers built on borrowed time and borrowed trust? For too long, we’ve treated the planet, our teams, and our guests as infinite resources. But now, the cracks are showing. People are tired. Nature...
BY MICHAEL TINGSAGER Five minutes that could transform your leadership and business forever. Landing…not launchingI’m treating the first weeks of the year as a landing, not launchingI no longer tend to view January 1st as a fresh start, a new beginning……but a continuation of the life and impact I’m trying to build.I believe that all this extra pressure on our lives is for no good reason. Just look at the amount of “new-year-new-me” content out there right now.January isn’t the start of a new...
